Exposition Flyer
- Joint CB&Q-D&RGW-WP train inaugurated in 1939 to
coincide with the Golden Gate Exposition and the New York World's
Fair (hence both the train's name and the advent of the "Flying" Rio
Grande graphics). (Eager - DRGW list)
Royal Gorge
- Replaced the Scenic Limited on 1-Jun-1946
- Cut back to Salida on 6-Dec-1966 (other sources say 6-Dec-1964)
- At the end the consist was a baggage, combine, coach, diner-lounge, and sleeper (DRGW list - Jim Eager)
Colorado - New Mexico Express
- Originally ran Denver-Grand Junction via the Royal Gorge/Tennessee Pass line.
- Cut back to Minturn on 24-Sep-1939
- Cut back to Salida on 16-Nov-1939
- Cut back to Pueblo on 6-Jan-1942
- Discontinued on 1-Feb-1951, replaced by the | San Luis (DRGW list - Jim Eager)
'San Juan
- The narrow gauge segment (Alamosa-Durango) shared the train numbers 115/116 with the standard gauge run from Pueblo to Alamosa until 1947. At that point, the narrow gauge San Juan became 215/216.
San Luis
- Replaced the Colorad-New Mexico Express
- Ran from 1-Jun-1951 to 2-Jun-1953
- Usually ran with D&RGW's 800-class 4-6-2s and 2-3 cars, occasionally had a diesel (RC Farewell - DRGW list)
Mountaineer
- Originally ran via the Royal Gorge line, but was switched to the Moffat in 1939 (DRGW list, G LePak via Jim Eager)
- Cut back from Montrose, CO, to Grand Junction, CO, on 1-Feb-1951 (DRGW list, from G LePak via Jim Eager)
- Became colloquially known as the "Milk Run" or "Milk Train" in later years, although it's very doubtful any milk was actually carried. (Tom McConnell - DRGW list)
- Mail, express, and lcl traffic added to the Prospector after discontinuation. (DRGW list - Eager)
The Prospector
- Gained the Mountaineer's mail, express, and lcl traffic following that train's termination on 24-Oct-1959. Added an RPO and 1-3 baggage cars. (DRGW list - Eager)
- Only carried a single sleeper after 25-Oct-1960, except for seasonal peaks (summer, Christmas/New Years)
- Had up to 4 85/89-foot flats added 1964-1967 for Rio Grande Motorways lcl and grocery service (DRGW list - Eager)
- Mail contract from Grand Jct-Salt Lake cancelled May 1966, so the RPO was cut back to Denver-Grand Junction until that contract went as well on 31-Mar-1967.
- In the 1950s the consist was typically a combine baggage/dorm/coach, coach, diner-lounge, and two sleepers, plus the Royal Gorge's RPO, baggage, vista-dome coach, and sleepers between Grand Jct and SLC/Ogden. Seasonal peaks could swell the consist with additional sleepers and coaches. (DRGW list - Eager)
Scenic Limited

- Replaced by Royal Gorge on 1-Jun-1946 (DRGW list, G LePak via Jim Eager)
Panoramic Special
