News Photos Mine Expansion at Anaconda, CO

As part of the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company's "Mine Life Extension 2" project, the valley that once was Anaconda, CO, will be buried to become part of the Squaw Gulch Valley Leach Facility. As part of this, Colorado Highway 67 will be rerouted off the old Florence & Cripple Creek rail grade via a large fill at the south end of the valley. Construction is already well underway, and my understanding is that the reroute is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year.
