DISCLAIMER - COPYRIGHT & TRADEMARK NOTICES:

Some of the scanned information relating to the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad may still by copyright the D&RGW's successor, Union Pacific. Timetables published after 1-Jan-1978 definitely fall in this category (when laws to bring the US in compliance with the Berne Convention became active and authors no longer have to explicitly put down a copyright notice to have protection). Most of the documents, however, being published before 1-Jan-1978 and not bearing any form of copyright notice, are public domain. That means the information in them can be used for whatever.

Note that this does not change the fact that most forms of Denver and Rio Grande Western logos are trademarked, and thus they are the property of and their use can be restricted by Union Pacific.

The information presented here is probably in blatant violation of trademark law, and small parts of it definitely run afoul of copyright law. Being aware of that, I'm still putting it up here on the grounds that:

  • The copyright/trademark holder will probably not care since the D&RGW is over a decade gone, and
  • There are a great number of interested people who would like to see this information preserved and accessible. I present any and all information contained in this site for academic purposes only. (Honestly, I don't see any other purpose that it could be used for...)
  • The content here in no way represents the possibility of a financial loss or competitive threat to Union Pacific, as most of this information is downright useless except to those interested in Rio Grande history

In addition, any links to sites other than DRGW.NET may come with additional copyright notices that I can't change - please respect those. Anything around here is still copyright by me, but I grant everyone an unconditional license to use any D&RGW content from DRGW.NET for almost any purpose, as long as we're credited as the source. Also remember that information cannot be copyrighted, only a specific expression of it can (eg, you can claim copyright over the design and layout of a webpage, but any facts in it are free and public) In other words, I encourage you to share and use any information we present. A simple link and/or mention of where you got the stuff would be very much appreciated. Note this doesn't protect you if there's something infringing on here and for example UP comes after you - this is just an agreement that I won't hassle you about it.

I present this information for reference by fans and historians interested in the D&RGW and its predecessor roads only, and can't even pretend to give you any sort of rights to use it for anything. If anyone out there at Union Pacific's legal department strenuously objects, I will probably be forced to pull them. However, I'd rather work something out so that this information can continue to be preserved and shared online, so please contact me if you have any concerns - ND Holmes

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: First, we are absolutely a not-for-profit organization. We are also in no way affiliated with the former Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad, except for being fans. Be sure to read the full disclaimer here. If you need transportation services on former Rio Grande lines, please contact Union Pacific. Our eventual goal is to provide a site which will host a variety of railroad information, both for railfans and modellers alike. Thanks to Benn Coifman for the Rio Grande font - it's available at RailFonts. Want to know more about us? Check the ABOUT page...
