D&RGW Class M-64 4-8-4s D&RGW Class M-64 #1706 D&RGW 1706 Wreck - Eagle, CO - 11-Jan-1944

At 1543h on 11-Jan-1944, D&RGW 1706 derailed with a westbound extra passenger train approximately 750 feet east of the Eagle, CO, station. Estimates are that 1706 went into the 47 mph curve at between 60-75 mph, overturning and coming to a stop some 500 feet from where it left the rails.
