Colorado City, CO

Colorado City was a station stop at milepost 77.0 of the Manitou Branch, just west of Colorado Springs, CO?. It was founded in 1859, well before Colorado Springs and the arrival of Denver & Rio Grande rails. It served briefly as the Colorado Territory's capital in 1861, but was deemed too rowdy and the capital was moved after only one session.1

The area was annexed into Colorado Springs in 1917, but is still referred to by locals as "Old Colorado City".2

The Colorado City depot was located near where the line crossed S 22nd St. The depot burned in 1931 and was not replaced.3
