| Subject: [DRGW] Re: Rio Grande Modeling & Historical Society |
Rod, I'm a longtime RGM&HS member who is interested in most facets of the Rio Grande, both steam and diesel, narrow gauge and standard gauge. Caught the NG bug when I rode the D&RGW to Silverton back in 1973 at the tender age of seven. I'm in the planning stages of a HOn3 layout, and hope to squeeze in some dual rail for SG.
I'm also working on what could be a series of articles about the various CF&I mines served by the D&RGW. The CF&I archives contain thousands of maps and photos, so it will take me a while to sort through and pull something together. I'm hoping they'll be of interest to modelers and historians alike. I don't have time to get up to Golden very often, but the Steelworks Museum and CF&I Archives are just down the street from me, plus I serve on their board of directors, so it's an easier way for me to finally contribute something to the Prospector.
